Can I return, reuse, or recycle the packaging?

Our innovative, green packaging uses recycled cardboard and soy based inks. The fruit crate makes a handy storage box for file folders. It’s the perfect size!
Which is fresher: the produce delivered by The FruitGuys or at my local store?
At The FruitGuys, we believe that fruit coming faster from the farm means fresher to you!* We buy the freshest fruit available each day in order to ship the highest quality fruit to your office overnight. Your local grocer, on the other hand, may have had to choose from fruits that were picked weeks earlier and then shipped by rail or by truck to their final destination. See the statistics below:
- Days between harvest and store arrival for typical U.S. Produce: 7 days**
Days between harvest&FruitGuys arrival of "fresher to you" fruit: 2 days.**
** Sources: California Tomato Commission, The FruitGuys
*"Fresher to you" is seasonal fruit through The FruitGuys farm direct program. Not all of the fruit in the crate is farm direct (such as bananas and other imported fruits which are not grown in the western United States.) Fruit is shipped to our shippable customers overnight. Generally, that means the seasonal fruit you eat is only three days out of the field by the time you eat it.
What will my crate contain?
Each crate of healthy fruit we deliver to your office contains the very best seasonal fruit available. We deliver only the best in terms of quality, and availability. This means that the contents of your office fruit crate may vary from one week to the next depending on what's in season and what looks good to our buyer. If there's a storm passing through the region where our organic strawberries are grown, that's going to affect the availability of good strawberries. Our buyers are experts in knowing if a particular variety of peach, apricot, plum or any fruit is at its peak. We make daily decisions about what to include and what to leave out. Our buyers know the answer to that age-old produce question: "What's good today?"
Should I wash the fruit?
We always recommend it. Whether organic or conventional, fruit is grown outside under the sun and stars. Since our fruit is fresh from the field, we suggest that you rinse it under running water. A few times a year, we will include small melons and these should be rinsed as well. Since melons grow on the ground we recommend using a scrub brush or towel when you clean them. There is no supportive evidence that fruit from which you don't eat the rind (such as bananas and oranges) require washing although if you are concerned that your hands may be dirty or transport something to the fruit (from the rind or otherwise) we call upon the advice of mother's world wide - wash your hands and the fruit as well!
Where is The FruitGuys located?
The FruitGuys source, pack and ship our fresh fruit from four locations. Our headquarters are located just outside San Francisco - the perfect spot for tapping into “the fruit basket” of Northern and Central California’s produce. Our second facility is near Philadelphia, a great base for sourcing locally grown fruit for our customers along the east coast. Our third location is located in the heart of Chicago’s historic produce district. We have a fourth facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Having multiple locations allows us to buy locally whenever possible and bring our customers the freshest fruit for each season.
What’s The FruitGuys satisfaction guarantee?
If you’re unhappy with the quality of the fruit we deliver, we will replace it or issue a credit immediately, no hassle. We want you to be delighted with your fresh fruit delivery - every time.
What schedule should I choose?
95% of our customers get weekly office fruit delivery. They use fresh fruit at work as part of a workplace wellness program and they know their employees value this healthy benefit. Office morale goes way up when the fresh fruit arrives! Having a regular weekly order means you aren’t constantly reordering and confirming the status of your order.
