A Summer Poem June 25, 2007

Here’s my little poem, I’ve sprinkled it with rhyme
Tis an ode to the fresh sweet tastes of fruit in summertime.
Week one of grapes has now arrived from warm California sun
We’ve found again the white apricots that make taste buds fun.
Add to this a stone-fruit treat — star of the summer scene
Meet the flavor and soft-smooth texture of the mango-nectarine
Its yellow pale with slight green tint will grow brighter until just right
Touch gently, then when slightly soft, eat and dream of sweetness all night.
About the mango nectarine Nicole said of taste and look:
“Dan you rock,” she exclaimed to all, “these are off da’ hook”
And if you see a mark on its skin here or maybe there
Don’t be put off it’s how it grew against a branch as it hung in the air.
And if you wonder about the mix that arrives in your crate each week.
