Leaping into Spring: Our 25 Year Impact Report

I was once told by a trusted friend that, for impatient people like me who sometimes think that acting fast produces a greater result in a shorter amount of time, it is actually the ability to slow down and be intentional that allows us to accomplish more in the end.  And while I still wrestle with this balancing act, looking back over the last 25 years, it does strike me how consistent focus builds results in ways we can’t always see or understand until we have the benefit of perspective.

This week we release our 25 Year Impact Report, a summary of the GoodWorks programs over the last quarter of a century that have been driven by The FruitGuys staff, alumni, and clients.

In the report, which you can read as a beautiful flipbook, I’ve written more about the early stages of how our mission to grow healthy companies, fight hunger and support small farms came to be, so I won’t belabor it here. Suffice it to say that the positive impact we’ve had over the last quarter-century is owed to the many customers, staff and partners that have shaped our journey.

And while I find it gratifying to try to excavate something funny or fruitful to write about in my weekly missives, today I just want to say thanks. Thank you for the opportunity to be in service to you and your teams as it allows us to continue to take small steps forward to help not just our customers, but folks in need and those who steward the land we all eat from and inhabit.

As I write this, I want to give a shout out to the poet, writer, and naturalist Henry David Thoreau. This quote of his sums up for me the journey we are all on. (For those clients who get our fruit in the Concord/Boston area – H.D.T’s home turf – this one goes out to you).

“We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.”

Here’s to leaping forward to the success of a lovely spring.
