SAN FRANCISCO, CA - December 2009 - The FruitGuys, the industry leader in providing farm-fresh produce to the American workplace, has created the Donate-A-Crate Program as a way to provide fresh fruit to those in need this holiday season. While many businesses are closed or minimally staffed during the holiday season, The FruitGuys encourages its customers to donate their fresh fruit crates that would otherwise go unused.
The FruitGuys has hand-selected charitable organizations in different regions of the US for customers to donate their unused fruit crates. Select organizations include:
- San Francisco
- Riley Center
- St. Vincent de Paul Society
- Project Open Hand -
- Sophia Project
- Women Against Abuse, Inc.
- City Harvest
- Greater Chicago Food Depository
FruitGuys customers also have the option to donate their unused fruit crates to a charity of their choice.
“Charitable donations have declined throughout the year and the holiday season is an especially tough time for many non-profit organizations,” stated Chris Mittelstaedt, founder and chief executive officer, The FruitGuys. "The FruitGuys developed the Donate-A-Crate Program as a way to address the downturn in charitable donations by giving our customers the opportunity to give back to those who are less fortunate.”
