Last week, The FruitGuys announced the first-ever FG Iron Chef Competition. Everyone in the office was invited to put on an apron and take part in some friendly (over the) fire battles. Two days before the competition, all those who dared to don a chef’s hat met for the big reveal: the secret ingredient.
Beau, our buyer at the South San Francisco HQ, chose sweet, sweet strawberries to be the star of each dish since strawberry season is now upon us. Each chef was given a batch of strawberries to take home as inspiration.
Ingredient lists were submitted the morning of the competition, and the judges’ palates could hardly wait. At 11 a.m., all FG employees participated in a blind-tasting. Dishes were labeled with only numbers––their makers unknown. Votes were cast for tastiest entry, and Solomon Taumoepeau, The FruitGuys’ newest Customer Service representative, was crowned victorious with his scrumptious Strawberry Pulled-Pork Sammiches.
