One thing I love about being part of a food company is the amazing people I get to meet. Early on in my career with The FruitGuys, I was so excited and proud to explore the often-hidden world of produce. I felt giddy over early morning trips to the market in Philadelphia and visits with farmers who walked me through their fields, sharing all that goes into growing what we eat. As The FruitGuys moved into snacks for the office break room a decade ago, I took the same joy in connecting with snack company founders and learning about their stories, triumphs, and challenges.

How We Choose the Best Office Snacks
I canāt take any credit for discovering the snacks we packāour amazing snack category manager, Daria Jackson, is responsible for finding the best and tastiest ones to surprise and delight our clients. She evaluates snack companies based on a lot of things, including:
- Ingredients: Are they simple and healthy?
- Taste: Do we want to eat the snacks?
- Geography: Can we celebrate this as a small, local brand?
- Ownership/Impact: Who does buying this snack support?
Why do we look at ownership? Well, youāve heard me say this before, but Iām happy to say it again: Representation matters, and diversity makes all systems better. Just look at the natural world. Regenerative farming is about building ecosystems rich in biodiversity. The idea is that a variety of animals, insects, microbes, and even genes can collaborate to make crops more successfulāand it works!
This month, weāre celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and the AAPI-owned snack brands we partner with, so I thought Iād share a few with you.
AAPI-Owned Snacks Perfect for the Office Break Room
First, I have to talk about Love + Chew. I have a sweet tooth, so I love turning to Laurenās Superfood Cookies for my afternoon cravings. Her story is similar to our own: She started her better-for-you cookie business in her kitchen in San Francisco. Weāre excited to carry her vegan and gluten-free cookies in our snack boxes. My personal favorite is the Chocolate Chia, but Banana Bread is a close second.

We’re also proud to stock other AAPI-owned snacks perfect for the office break room: crackers from Fair & Square and Green Mustache, oatmeal from Mylk Labs, and jerky from Panās Mushroom Jerky.

Often, these companies got started because their founders needed something they couldnāt find on the market, like a gluten-free, healthier cracker, or a lower-sugar, travel-ready oatmeal. No matter their origin story, the snacks are delicious, and weāre excited to share them with you. You can look for them in our snack boxes (mixes rotate every week) or order them in bulk by the case. Have a Favorite We’re Missing? Let Us Know!
Do you have a favorite snack brand youād love to see in our boxes? Tell customer service, and they’ll share it with Daria. Snack and fruit tasting days are some of our teamās absolute favorites, and we’d love to try your go-to bites.
