Position: Director of Human Resources

Your Purpose: The FruitGuys, the nation's #1 provider of farm-fresh fruit to businesses, is currently seeking a self-motivated and detail oriented Human Resources Director. This position will lead and manage all facets of Human Resources for The FruitGuys organization for our offices in SSF, LA, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Dallas. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and have a broad array of responsibilities.

We are open to candidates being located outside the San Francisco Bay Area as long as they have easy access to a major airport and are willing to travel to our offices listed above.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all Human Resource functions
  • Collaborate with Operations Managers to ensure they are legally compliant in all matters pertaining to staffing and employment decisions
  • Formulate, articulate, and implement policies and guidelines to all employees as well as establish best practices and procedures
  • Partner with management to resolve employee relation issues; provide coaching and counseling to management and staff; collaborate with legal counsel on issues as appropriate
  • Diagnose opportunities for learning and development programs; develop and facilitate organization-specific training sessions; assess training effectiveness through evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations related to Human Resources and Employment/Labor for all locations
  • Work with various facilities to implement procedures and best practices for recruitment, retention, compensation, training, and benefits
  • Work directly with management on strategic HR decisions
  • Work with management to identify and establish area's where culture needs to be implemented and/or improved; guide Operations Managers on The FruitGuys culture in HR decisions and communications
  • Administer all company benefit programs (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, Cobra)
  • Oversee the workers compensation program as well as investigate, track and manage all open claims
  • Maintain accurate personnel and I-9 files to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Keep Employee Handbook and internal website up to date with latest policies, procedures and news
  • Organize and oversee the annual review process including employee meetings
  • Manage HR generalist

SPECIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of HR management experience along with a PHR, SPHR or equivalent certification preferred
  • Team oriented individual with food and beverage, warehouse, or retail industry experience preferred
  • Strong people skills and experience dealing with employee issues, complaints, and legal requirements
  • Able to represent company with professionalism and hospitality
  • Excellent written, oral, and phone communication skills
  • Detail oriented and accuracy focused in dynamic environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience with MS Office and Google applications
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fluent in Spanish a plus

Position: Los Angeles Operations Manager (Los Alamitos, CA)

Your Purpose: As the Operations Manager for our Los Alamitos facility, you will apply your entrepreneurial spirit to motivate and engage your staff of experienced FruitGuys to the take it to the next level in 2018. You will be creating an environment that strives to continually improve business while promoting health and wellness in the lives our customers and team members. You and your team’s strategies will solve real business problems in real time, all while reinforcing strong business partnerships with regional farms and vendors.

Your Impact: Reporting directly to the COO you will effect change on your operation and across the organization. You will apply your background in business management to eliminate gaps throughout our purchasing, quality control, manufacturing and delivery process to improve the client experience. You will juggle multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, service leadership culture that emphasizes respect, being remembered positively, taking personal responsibility, being realistic and responsive. You will align regional goals with company goals, serving as a catalyst between departments that will spark innovations across the operation.

What About You? Your experience, passion and talents will be focused around positive team management, turning business analysis and metrics into business outcomes and making a difference in your workplace. You quickly assess risk, problem solve issues, facilitate action plans, and follow up in a timely manner to see whether the plan is having the desired outcome. You understand the importance of connecting customer service, sales and operations and thrive on creating systems to replicate consistent results. You are as comfortable in the warehouse as you are the conference room and have at least two years of hands on experience in overseeing all cost areas, ensuring team budget goals are met and seeking cost-effective and profitable ways to conduct business and meet company standards. Being bilingual in Spanish would be helpful.

Schedule: Full-time—typically Monday through Friday, on average 40 hours per week. These hours may fluctuate based upon business needs, and may include occasional evening and weekend work or travel.
