Why The FruitGuys?
Our family business is in service to your health and happiness, whether you are ordering for your home, remote office, or for hundreds of employees in offices across the country. Fresh fruit consumption is one of the best ways to increase general health and immune function. If you are an employer, providing The FruitGuys fruit in your office or to your remote staff supports not just employee health, but boosts morale, productivity, and loyalty. Learn more about the ROI benefits of fruit at work in The FruitGuys White Paper. Your purchase makes you part of our B-Corp mission to create a healthier workplace, support American farms, and combat hunger. All of our imperfect fruit or excess fruit is delivered weekly to local food banks and charities (instead of sold on a secondary market), with more than 15 million servings donated since 2000. Our non-profit The FruitGuys Community Fund has provided $275k in grants to small farms for sustainability projects since 2012. We donate a minimum of 20% of our annual profits to support these projects.

We are food safety-certified and regularly audited by 3rd parties, as well as a CCOF-certified organic produce handler. Our 15 distribution hubs across the country allow us to source the seasonal fruit closest to you from local farms and wholesalers in your region whenever possible, which reduces shipping costs and climate impact. We are proud to have partnerships with more than 200 small farms nationwide, 75% of which have worked with us for 5 years or longer. We carefully inspect your fruit 3 times before packing it in our food-safety certified facilities, and delivering it to you as early as the next day.

Our Food Safety Practices
As an Essential Service Provider with 22 years of food safety experience providing farm-fresh fruit and thoughtful snacks to the American workplace, your health has always been our number one priority. We are food safety-certified and regularly audited by third parties. We’ve updated our procedures to include CDC-recommended social distancing and other protocols for essential businesses, with enhanced surface cleaning and facility access limited to essential personnel only. Even so, we’ve always recommended that you wash your fruit (and your hands!) before consumption.
Should I wash the fruit?
We have always recommended washing your fruit. Whether organic or conventional, fruit should be rinsed under cool running water immediately before you enjoy it. And don’t forget to wash your hands as well!
What kind of fruit will be in my crate?
We offer organic and conventional options for our main mixes: Staples, which includes bananas, apples, citrus and a surprise seasonal fruit; the Harvest includes bananas plus a curated selection of seasonal offerings, including berries and stone fruit in summer. We are food safety-certified and regularly audited by 3rd parties, as well as a CCOF-certified organic produce handler. Our 15 distribution hubs across the country allow us to source the seasonal fruit closest to you from local farms and wholesalers in your region, which reduces shipping costs and climate impact. We carefully inspect your fruit 3 times before packing it in our food-safety certified facilities, and delivering it to you as early as the next day.
Our buyers work very hard to source the freshest and tastiest fruit available in each region to set a fruit “mix” for the Staples and Harvest mixes each week. To see exactly what is in your crate in your region, visit our mix pages.
Is The FruitGuys certified organic?
Yes, The FruitGuys is a certified organic food handler through CCOF. All of our organic mixes follow strict USDA protocol for sourcing and handling of organic produce.
Do you have your own farms?
We do not have our own farms but we do have long-term relationships with small farmers and suppliers across the country. We have partnerships with more than 200 small farms and 75% of them have worked with us for 5 years or longer. We also support sustainable agriculture through our nonprofit The FruitGuys Community Fund, which provides annual grants to small farms for sustainability projects. Since 2012, it has awarded $275,000 in grant awards.
What much fruit comes in my crate?
Our FruitCrates™ are available in three sizes: small (16 servings), medium (25 servings), and large (50 servings). The actual number of pieces of fruit varies depending on what varieties are in the mix each week but, in general, we consider one piece of fruit equal to one serving. If we add small-sized fruits like pixie tangerines or apricots, we include two pieces per serving; one clamshell of berries is counted as 2–3 servings, and one bag of grapes is 4–6 servings, depending on the variety and farm.
How do you choose what fruit goes in the crate?
Each crate contains an assortment of the best and most unique fruit available. This means the contents of your fruit crate may vary from one week to the next depending on what’s in season, what’s being picked that week, and what looks and tastes best to our buying team. For example, if rain has adversely affected a region where our organic strawberries are grown, we may not have strawberries that week because the best was not available.
Can I customize my fruit mix?
We are happy to make some customizations to your crate. We can omit unwanted items and include extras of other produce in your mix. Let us know and will do our best to accommodate your request.
Where does The FruitGuys fruit come from?
The FruitGuys produce is sourced from small, independent, and family-run farms near our regional production hubs whenever seasonally possible. Due to seasonality and weather constraints, we are not able to source exclusively from all of these farms year round and supplement our fruit sourcing with wholesale partners. To see which states your produce is coming from, visit The FruitGuys “What’s in the Mix” page.
How long does the fruit last?
Different fruits have different shelf lives. We deliver bananas with green tips to accommodate the tastes of those who like to eat them firmer and those who like them more ripe. Stone fruit and pears are shipped while they are still firm, as they are less likely to bruise during transit and will continue to ripen. Other fruit, berries for example, should be eaten within two to three days of delivery. Items such as apples or oranges will last a week or more depending on how they are stored. See Fresh Fruit Storage & Ripening Tips for more information.
Why is some FruitGuys fruit smaller than grocery store fruit?
Smaller fruit often has less water in it but the same amount of sugar as the larger fruit you see, resulting in a much richer taste. We choose our fruit based on flavor and taste and to support small, local, and family-run farms as much as possible. We send our buyers to visit farms, meet farmers, and taste fresh produce at its peak before we buy, and we pride ourselves on offering fruit with superior flavor.
Where do you deliver?
The FruitGuys ships fruit nationwide, with Monday through Friday delivery in most areas.
Do I have to pay for shipping?
Shipping is free to many locations in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington DC. Some metro areas (New York City, for example) have added congestion traffic pricing that has added modest surcharges ($3 for NYC) to some deliveries.
Shipping options (ground or priority) and costs (if any) will be displayed after entering your product selection and shipping zip code at checkout. You can also contact us for a shipping quote.
When will my fresh fruit arrive?
All deliveries are guaranteed by end of business day, however, we find the majority of deliveries are made between 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Priority delivery is available in many locations; please let us know when you place your order if you have any special delivery time requests, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Can I track my delivery online?
Unfortunately, we do not yet offer online delivery tracking. If you have any questions about the status of your delivery, please email customer service and we can track your package and provide an estimated time of delivery.
How do I pay for office delivery of fresh fruit?
The majority of our customers pay with a credit card that is charged one business day before each delivery, then a copy of the paid invoice is sent to the email address on file. If you prefer to be billed with net 15 days, please complete our corporate credit application. Please let us know when placing your order if you would like to pay with a purchase order or on terms.
How do I request a copy of an invoice?
Shoot us an email and we’ll be happy to send you a copy of your invoice. Please reference the invoice number or your company name and the date of the invoice you need.
