Capay Valley FarmShares

In elementary school some friends and I went through a phase where we had dreams of being city planners. We diagrammed a world of baseball diamonds and arcades and woods with bike paths that somehow were always tilted downhill. It was a community without parents where kids built their own kinds of homes—hobbit holes and tree houses. Water slides and rope swings were a must.

capay valley farmsharesThirty years later, I feel that same excitement of building something collaboratively around the concept of local food. People don’t just want to know where their food is coming from, but who is growing it and how. As The FruitGuys has grown up (we’re teens now) we’ve increased our network of local farmers in all the regions we serve. To this end I’d like to introduce an exciting new partnership.

Capay Valley Farm Shop—a collaboration of more than 25 small farms in Capay Valley, CA (Yolo County)—is producing a product for our TakeHome service. Each week the Capay FarmShares group hand-packs a mix of produce grown by local farms and ranches from this region. The FruitGuys then delivers this box to our individual customers for take-home use. Think of it as a mix of Capay Valley’s best CSAs (as well as farms too small to do a CSA) coming together to form a product for FruitGuys clients. Partnering with The FruitGuys helps Capay Valley’s small farms expand the distribution of their product and bring you seasonal produce at its peak from this very specific region.  You can purchase this unique mix at, just click on “Order Now” and scroll to TakeHome.  Thursday delivery only (starts June 10th). Free “Take Home” delivery is available for those who work at offices getting FruitGuys office fruit. Home delivery is available for a small fee.

While the Capay Valley FarmShares program is only available on the West Coast, our TakeHome program is nationwide and filled with delicious produce from regional farms. We will continue to put farm groups together in the different regions we serve. Click the ladybug icon on our homepage to see your office or take home mixes or go to Stone fruit is finally here!!

Enjoy and be fruitful!
