Summer Peach Drink: Peaches and Wine
- By Pia Hinckle

Summer is the perfect time for peaches and wine! Peaches are harvested across the U.S. from late May to early September, with local varieties having their own special windows of availability. No matter what kind of wine you prefer, red, white, rose, or bubbles, and no matter what the quality of the wine, I guarantee this simple summer peach drink will taste delicious. Works well with alcoholic or non-alcoholic ciders too. This easy peesy drink is perfect for relaxing on your porch before dinner or served as a dessert. I find ripe peaches and nectarines are the best fruits for this recipe, but you could also use apricots, plums, or cherries–or all of them.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 ripe peach or nectarine
- 1 glass of wine of any kind
PREPARATION
- Wash peach in cold water and peel fuzzy skin if desired.
- Cut peach from the pit into slices and place all in an empty glass. (How to cut a peach/nectarine video.)
- Add wine to cover the slices. Let sit 5 minutes (if you can wait) to macerate.
- If desired, top with sprig of mint or rosemary, or add ice to make a cooler.
Eat peaches with fork or spoon and drink the wine when they’re gone.
