Want a Greener Future? Help Fund Grants for Small Farms

I’ve never been a fan of Black Friday. Getting up early to get in line and shop just doesn’t seem fun to me. I prefer my post-Thanksgiving breakfast pie, thank you very much. But Giving Tuesday—the first Tuesday of December—is a holiday I can get behind.

Giving Tuesday is a day to donate money to the causes you believe in and want to support. But it’s also about spreading generosity in all of its forms: making someone smile, helping a friend, donating your time, and just giving in whatever way you can. I love the sense of gratitude, connection, and community that the holiday brings, and I’d love to see it last even longer.

Keep the Giving Spirit Alive

If you missed Giving Tuesday this year, don’t worry—it’s not too late to give back. We do it year-round here at The FruitGuys. When we became a Certified B Corp in 2018, we made a formal commitment to donate 20% of our profits* to feed people in need and support small farms with microgrants for sustainability projects.

To do that, we donate excess and imperfect produce and snacks to hunger relief partners around the country every week. We also help sustain The FruitGuys Community Fund (TFGCF), a fiscally sponsored 501c3 that oversees our grants to small farms. Those grants are funded not only by The FruitGuys but also by our partners, like Aramark, and by private donations from people like you.

Help Fund Grants for Small Farms

If you’d like to keep the giving spirit going, please consider donating to TFGCF. Your donation will help farmers carry out on-farm sustainability projects like purchasing solar-powered farm equipment, creating pollinator sanctuaries, and introducing more biodiverse and native plants.

These small changes add up to a greener future. And if you know any small farms that need a little help, you can also give back to them by suggesting that they apply for a TFGCF grant. The application window for 2025 will open in January, and last year, TFGCF awarded grants to 20 small farms. I can’t wait to see how many farmers we can help this year.
