The FruitGuys Farm Steward mission is to promote sustainable farming practices that have no negative impact on the environment and add long-term social and economic value to the farm and farming community. To this end, we wanted to let you know about a once in a lifetime fundraiser for Capay Farmshop at Full Belly Farm.
The Capay Valley lies nestled in California’s Coast Range between the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento. It is known for its bucolic scenery, warm summers, complex soils, and its outstanding produce is grown by a network of family farms.
For more than 30 years, Capay Valley farmers have been on the cutting edge of sustainable farming and local food movements. The Capay Valley Farm Shop is a collaborative of family farms and ranches that have united under the “Capay Valley Grown” label to distribute the valley’s goodness—from organic fruits and vegetables to nuts, meats, olive oil, wine, lavender, honey, flowers, and nuts—through subscription to their community-supported agriculture (CSA).
Now Capay Valley growers are offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a special patron: an exclusive afternoon on the farm followed by a gourmet meal for 20 guests featuring the best the region has to offer of organic vegetables, tender meats, outstanding wines, delectable desserts. A donation of $10,000 supports the ongoing development of the Capay Valley Farm Shop and its mission to connect urban communities with nature’s bounty.
Lucky guests will start with a special walking tour with the farmers, tastings, and a discussion of the future of sustainable food systems in the Capay Valley. Chefs Amon Muller and Jenna Clemens’ elegant, yet satisfyingly hearty cooking will be prepared exclusively with organic and sustainable ingredients. Amon and Jenna are known for the intuitive mastery of their craft and have worked at such renowned Northern California culinary institutions such as Chez Panisse, Coi, Quince, and Tartine Bakery.
The patron dinner will be held in December at Full Belly Farm, the 300-acre organic farm that has been a pioneer in the sustainable agriculture movement since 1984. Date and time subject to availability depending on the client’s schedule.
