Mangosteen

Mangosteens are truly exotic—and they’re nothing like mangoes, despite their name! The only thing they have in common is that both are tropical fruits native to Southeast Asia. They’re popular in countries like Thailand and the Philippines, where they grow easily in the hot, lush climate.
The Mangosteen’s signature sweet, slightly tart flavor is hard to describe. Some people say it tastes like a combination of peaches, clementines, and pineapple. When opened, the fruit looks like a tropical orchid, and in fruit-hunting lore, Queen Victoria set a bounty of 100 pounds sterling for one fresh one.
