My Top Office Snack Picks for the Zombie Apocalypse

I’m washing dishes in the kitchen when I hear an odd sound from the bathroom: Screeeeeech. The noise pauses, then—BANG! Something heavy hits the floor. I freeze, but I don’t hear any tears or wailing. So I dry my hands and walk calmly across our apartment to the bathroom.
When I peek inside, I see our five-year-old son climbing down from the stool that he’d clearly dragged over to reach a high shelf. He picks up a can of green spray-on hair dye from the floor, looks at me, and proclaims: “I want a green mohawk today with zig-zags on the back of my head.”
I smile—this kid has more style than I ever will! My wife appears, grabs the hair dye, and gets to work.

Miraculously, his green hair is still holding its mohawk shape when we pick him up from preschool at the end of the day. One of the teachers pulls us aside as we’re leaving. “I have to show you this,” she says, “your son became a zombie today!”
She shows us a picture of our five-year-old with his green mohawk sticking up and greenish-black paint all over his face and torso. “I was a zombie with armor!” he chimes in.
If the zombie apocalypse is coming, I want this kiddo on my side (with the rest of my family and friends, of course). I also want a bag of snacks.
Here’s what I’d pack if I raided our family’s Thoughtful Snack Box of office snacks from The FruitGuys:
Snacks for Energy (aka Survival Mode)
- Field Trip Turkey Sticks: I’ll definitely need some protein to keep my energy up, and as I type this, I’m enjoying a Cracked Pepper stick. The texture is good (not too hard, not too soft), and it’s nice and flavorful. My kids think these sticks are a little “spicy” (it’s just black pepper, they aren’t hot), so more for me!

- Righteous Felon Craft Jerky: More protein can’t hurt, and I’m a sucker for Righteous Felon’s beef jerky. They have a lot of flavors, and their 1-ounce packs are a perfect snack serving to recharge me between zombie battles.
Something Cheesy and Satisfying
- LesserEvil Space Balls: These cheesy puff balls are delicious, and although I claim they’re for the kiddos, I’ve been known to steal some on occasion. I don’t even feel guilty because all of the ingredients are natural and things I can pronounce.
For a Sweet Treat on the Run
- Blake’s Chewy Granola Bars (any flavor—they’re all tasty and allergy-friendly)
- Rule Breaker Brownies and Blondies (the chocolate chip is my favorite)

- Realsy Peanut Butter Dates (they’re energy-dense and not messy)
Last but Not Least, Something Fun
- Christie’s Zamboni Super Natural Potato Chips: You’ve gotta have some fun, even when you’re running from zombies. So I’d bring along some Christie’s Zamboni (mystery flavor) chips. They’re thin, crispy, and salty. Just remember to chew quietly—you don’t want the crunching to attract the undead.
When I ask my sons what they would bring in the zombie apocalypse, they both look at me with a “duh” face. The eldest speaks first. “Weapons, Mom! Or at least a helicopter or something.”
Whether it’s a zombie apocalypse or just a busy week at the office, having the right snacks on hand makes everything a little easier.
