The FruitGuys Celebrates 20 Years of Delivering Gravenstein Apples

When I close my eyes, I can almost taste it: that first bite of a fresh-picked Gravenstein apple. The thin red-and-green-striped skin crunches under my teeth, and sweet-tart flavor floods my tongue. It’s a taste that only comes around for a few weeks each year—and it’s almost here again.

20 Years of Gravenstein Apples

If you’ve never heard of them, Gravensteins are a rare heirloom apple grown in Sebastopol, California, and The FruitGuys has been on a mission to help preserve them for two decades. This August will mark the 20th anniversary of our Annual Gravenstein Apple Box, which we fill with these special apples and ship to Grav fans across the country. We buy organic apples directly from Devoto Gardens & Orchards and Appleseed Farms in Sebastopol and give them an extra 16% of the proceeds from every box to help them keep growing this historic fruit.

Last week, our team visited Grav farmer Stan Devoto to check in on him and his apple crop. The apples are looking beautiful already, and he’s expecting to pick them in early August!
