The FruitGuys Partners with OCUEJ to Feed Black Communities

Happy Black History Month! At The FruitGuys, we always try to honor this special month by celebrating the Black-owned snack brands and farms that we partner with. But we also believe in supporting the Black community year-round, because just like it took more than one march to build the Civil Rights Movement, it will take more than one month of effort per year to reach equity. We show our support through corporate food donations to hunger relief organizations like Oakland Communities United for Equity and Justice (OCUEJ).

Supporting Black Communities with Corporate Food Donations

OCUEJ is a nonprofit in the San Francisco Bay Area that’s focused on advancing food justice, housing stability, and community empowerment in Oakland’s Black communities. Its Self Help Hunger Program focuses on ensuring access to basic needs like land, food, housing, education, clothing, justice, and peace. OCUEJ operates a free food pantry four days a week, provides emergency housing, and hosts community arts events showcasing artists who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC).

In 2025, we donated 123,331 servings of food to support OCUEJ’s mission. Those corporate food donations are part of our weekly giving powered by our amazing clients. I’m grateful we can partner with organizations that are doing the important, on-the-ground work necessary to make the world more equitable.

Know a Black-Owned Snack Brand? Please Share!

On top of our corporate hunger relief partnerships, we’re always looking for more Black-owned snack brands to partner with and support. You can read about (and order from) two of our current partners, Partake and Every Body Eat ® in the blog “Black-Owned Food Companies We Love for Offices.” We’re delivering their snacks in bulk right now for Black History Month celebrations. If you know of another Black-owned brand making something delicious, we’d love to hear about it. Just share the brand name or website with our customer service team, and they’ll pass it on to our snack buyer.
