The FruitGuys Delivers Fresh Groceries to 200 Federal Workers

To me, federal workers aren’t just anonymous people in suits in Washington, DC. They’re the friends and neighbors who make sure my mail gets delivered, my kids can visit national parks, and my flights can land safely (including the one I’m on right now).

Many of those workers aren’t getting paychecks this week because of the government shutdown. So The FruitGuys is doing what you do for your neighbors: We’re helping however we can!

Free Groceries for 200 Federal Workers

Last Thursday, we delivered fruit and vegetables to 200 TSA employees at the Oakland International Airport (OAK). Every employee got a care package of apples, oranges, pears, rainbow carrots, celery, and potatoes. Those boxes were our small way of saying “thank you” and making sure they didn’t have to worry as much about their grocery bills.

We did the same thing for San Francisco International Airport’s TSA workers during the shutdown in 2019 so they had something fresh to eat. (You can see that donation in action in this ABC7 News report.)

How Our Clients Made This Possible

I know that feeding 200 people is just a drop in the shutdown bucket when there are 1.4 million workers furloughed or working without pay. But every little bit helps! Those groceries made a big difference to the OAK workers and their families, and I’m so grateful to The FruitGuys’ clients for making them possible. Just by ordering our fruit and snacks, you’re helping fund our GoodWorks program and power these donations.

Thank you so much for your support. Instead of letting this shutdown drive us apart, let’s use it as an opportunity to come together and help each other.
