Fall Fruit on TV: Get Tips From The FruitGuys on KTLA!

A few weeks ago, I was invited to talk about fall fruit on KTLA, a local Los Angeles TV station. As I set up the table for the segment with Juana and Miguel—two of The FruitGuys’ amazing LA team members—I noticed just how excited the crew and reporters were about the fruit.

Behind the Scenes at KTLA

Some were fruit novices and asked us what the delicious smell was (passion fruit that we’d just cut open) or wondered about the bulbous, purple-black, squishy fruits on the table (Black Mission figs). But others were experts who wanted to tell us about their favorite apples or the pomegranates that grew in their backyards. Their stories boosted my energy and reminded me why we were there: because fruit can bring people together.

Fresh Grapes Stole the Show

The grapes on the table drew a lot of comments. We’d brought Moon Drops™ grapes, Cotton Candy™ grapes, Gum Drops™ grapes, and traditional red and green grapes with us to the studio. By the end of the piece, we were passing out grapes for the KTLA team to take home! One cameraman only wanted the green grapes, while a reporter loved the Moon Drops™—everyone had their favorite.

There are so many varieties of grapes, and they come in all shapes and sizes. They can be large, deep purple, and long like Moon Drops™, or tiny and round like Champagne grapes. Each variety has a different sugar level. Cotton Candy™ grapes, for example, are much sweeter than most traditional green table grapes. There’s something for everyone.

Get These Fresh Fall Fruits Delivered

Peak US grape season is winding down now, but farmers will keep harvesting some varieties into late fall, so keep an eye out for them in our fruit mixes. If you don’t already have a mix on the way, I recommend trying the Harvest Mix or Season’s Best Box for your office or home delivery. Those mixes include a wide variety of seasonal fruits like the ones that I talked about on KTLA, sourced from small farms in your region and beyond.

A Final Note

Last but not least, I’d like to say a big thank you to the KTLA team for letting us share our fall fruit on air. It was great to meet you all and hear your fruit stories! And thanks to The FruitGuys’ team, too, especially Juana and Miguel, for making sure everything went smoothly.
