The FruitGuys Community Fund Awards Small Farm Grants for Women Farmers, BIPOC Farmers, and More

This is an exciting moment for small farms: The FruitGuys Community Fund (TFGCF) just announced its slate of 2026 grantees! With financial support from The FruitGuys, the nonprofit awarded a total of $65,000 in grants to 16 small farms and agricultural nonprofits in 14 US states and territories.

Those awards include:

  • 13 small farm grants for women-owned/-led farms
  • 9 small farm grants for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned/-led farms
  • 8 small farm grants for beginner farmers
  • 6 small farm grants for family farms
  • 4 small farm grants for LGBTQ+-owned/-led farms

Many farms fall into several of these categories.

Each farm will use its award to fund a sustainability project, like switching to solar power, building seed-saving infrastructure, or creating a habitat for pollinators. These small projects will have a big impact on the environment, the farms, and their communities.

Why Small Farm Grants for Women, BIPOC Farmers, Family Farms, and Other Underrepresented Groups

We need a wide variety of small, diverse, independent farms to build a strong food system. That’s why The FruitGuys Community Fund’s team of volunteer reviewers prioritizes diversity when choosing their grantees. They look at diversity in ownership, leadership, and farming types to pick an eclectic mix of award winners.

“This year’s grantees run the gamut, from a low-till vegetable farm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that’s adding a fruit tree orchard and food forest to a cattle ranch in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, that’s installing a solar system and livestock fencing,” said Sheila Cassani, project director of TFGCF and head of impact at The FruitGuys. “Many of the farmers we support are from communities that are underrepresented in farming, like women and people of color. They all play an important role in their local ecology, economies, and communities.”
